Further to receiving his degree, Maurice went on to study the photojournalism course run by the National Council for the Training of Journalists at Stradbroke College in Sheffield. This led to work on newspapers in Oxford and London including the position of Chief Photographer at the South London Press newspaper. Maurice chose to go freelance in the year 2000 undertaking a mixed portfolio of wedding and social photography whilst continuing with newspaper and agency work. Inspired by the more modern trend for documentary style reportage photography, the weddings and Bar Mitzvahs soon took over as the main body of Maurice's work with bookings being taken all over the country. Now based in East Yorkshire, Maurice still frequently works in London and the south and is quite happy to travel more or less anywhere to photograph your special occasion, having also undertaken commissions in Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy.
"I like to combine the principles of photojournalism which means a minimum of intrusion for most of the day with some "lightly engineered" photographs with the bride and groom. It sounds funny to say it, but one of the best compliments I can be paid is to be told by clients that they felt so comfortable that at times they forgot I was there! Working in this way I can capture the natural emotions and fun candid moments throughout the day with the special bride and groom photographs to complete the album."
Maurice is totally committed to your wedding, Bar Mitzvah or Bat Mitzvah, and will personally oversee all aspects of your photography and album design. If our standard packages don't quite meet your individual requirements, then please don't hesitate to contact us.
